SOME OF OUR TEAMS FROM SEASONS PAST
DUNDEE & DISTRICT Y.F.A
Forfar Boys Football Club was formed in 1975 and consists of a range of teams from U7’s to U19’s. In all we have an approximate total of 160 boys playing and training with the club.
The Club have always strived to aim high and are extremely proud to have gained the Quality Mark Award, as recognised by the Scottish FA. The club has also received the Silver Ace Award from Angus Council which improves access to training facilities and other benefits.
The club is run by parent volunteers who give up their time to either manage, coach or be part of the committee. Without these volunteers the club would be unable to function. If you are interested in helping the club in anyway, please contact a member of the committee.
Most of our players have been involved in football since mini-kickers & fun fours run by the Scottish FA, and we look to naturally progress and develop these boys into football, to start them playing fun non-competitive 7-a-side football, and eventually into full, competitive 11-a-side football.
The idea is to promote Forfar Boys FC within the local football community and give the boys a good quality, solid standard of coaching and to be involved with a club at different levels.
Getting the ball under control quickly and becoming comfortable with a ball at their feet, allowing the players to get their head up quickly, this confidence will allow proper techniques.
Through playing and developing together, we believe that players become aware of the other players intentions and anticipate these moves. The coaching of that movement and correct runs, escaping markers, etc., creates fantastic football to watch and one of our key aims is that the children enjoy their football.
The majority of these players are already confident that they can dribble round an opponent; this dribbling skill and confidence will be channelled as to when it is appropriate and correct release of the pass.
The other techniques of shooting, heading, movement, etc., will be delivered as coaching drills within the above.
